49th UAE National Day
The United Arab Emirates celebrates its national day on 2nd December. It marks the union of the seven emirates; namely, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. From fireworks to parades, the locals and expatriates of the country gather and celebrate their love for their nation. Let us see what’s in store this year.
Fireworks and Light Shows
As always the entire country illuminates to celebrate the joyous occasion. From colourful skyscrapers (representing the colours of the national flag) to fireworks and laser shows, our eyes are in for a treat as usual. This year you can watch the UAE National Day fireworks at different locations such as Dubai Festival City (also hosts the laser show), La Mer, Global Village and Pointe the Palm. Then, as always, Burj Khalifa will be donned in magnificent lights accompanied by the Dubai Fountains’ thrilling show. Now, it goes without saying that under the special circumstances of this year, it is imperative that everyone follows proper precautionary methods to avoid the virus.
Seeds of the Union
Another addition to this year’s celebrations are the ‘Seeds of the Union’ production which will be aired on December 2nd. This is an innovative way to celebrate the national day under the Covid-19 pandemic. It uses virtual technology and allows people to take part in celebrating the country from the comfort of their homes. This spectacular show will include “a moving sculpture surrounded by sea and illuminated by digital visuals portraying themes inspired by the UAE’s rich history and strong values.” The show will be broadcasted live to millions of audience across the globe.
